Madonnapalooza is tonight!  It is a fabulous evening, as so many of you have experienced, when our students are celebrated and shine on the dance floor and in our hearts.  This year the event is Thursday, April 4th and we are back at Il Palazzo (The American-Italian Heritage Society) at 132nd and Fort.

Congratulations to all our Special Olympic athletes who placed and participated in the state basketball meet this past weekend!  All your hard work and dedication pays off!

Congratulations to Drew Vacek, our high school worker of the month!

Please note, if you student is commencing in May, it is expected they return to school for the remainder of the school year.

Children’s Scholarship Fund Applications:

·         Applications for the 2019-20 school year were opened on February 11th and will be open until Friday, May 3rd.

Safe Environment:

·         The Archdiocese of Omaha has directed that all school staff and those working with our students, including volunteers, receive Safe Environment Training.  In working toward that directive, we would like to encourage you to register for the class and become Safe Environment certified.

Home & School News

Meetings:

·         Apr 30 & Movie Night for students

Notes:

·         Attending H&S meetings fulfills 1 hr. per family for service hours. Mark your calendars now!

·         The H&S is getting back to our roots with the use of committees instead of event sign-ups. Please come to see what's new, to meet other parents, and to build the Madonna community with us!

·         REMINDER: 10 hours of volunteer service is a requirement for families at Madonna. Our Home and School Organization is working to help you meet those hours by providing many opportunities throughout the year. Please remember that this is considered a portion of the tuition and hours not served will be billed to the families at the rate of $20 per hour. Thank you for your help with this.

Upcoming Special Olympics Dates:

·         Regional Track Meet – Sunday, April 28th @ Millard South

ALLPLAY Miracle Baseball League for children and adults with disabilities believes:

  • Everyone deserves the chance to play baseball !

During registration players can indicate their buddy preference and identify who their buddy will be. Players can also choose to have ALLPLAY find a buddy or maybe even decide they don't need a buddy.

  • Every player bats each inning

  • All players are safe on the bases

  • Every player scores a run

  • Players names are announced by PA

  • Teams and players win every game

  • Every player gets a uniform

  • Treats provided for everyone after games

  • Every player gets a trophy at season's end

  • Every player can have a "Buddy" - a volunteer or family member to assist the player

  • Spring and fall seasons are played each with    6-8 weeks of games

The thrill of playing, cheers from the stands from family & friends, and friendships developed make the Miracle League a special place away from everyday battles.   Parents tell stories of their children wearing their uniform to bed or insisting on playing de

spite bouts with illness, kidney stones, broken bones, and recent hospitalizations.

All children with disabilities are welcome. Player's disabilities include: autism; cerebral palsy; spina bifida; visual impairments; muscular dystrophy; dwarfism; multiple sclerosis; spinal cord injury; down syndrome, amputations, and many other physical and mental disabilities.

Returning players may be placed on the same team they played on last year, and if possible, may use their jersey and hat from the 2016 season.
